A bit of Green

A bit of green.

The year was 1946, Harry was president and I was five, just at the crack of dawn, my Grandfather, uncle and I were at the Tuckasegee River checking the fishing lines we had set the night before.

We pulled in our trot lines and unloaded our catch, it then took much time to clean the line and bait them again, I remember how black the water was and all kinds of stringy dirty looking filth attached also much of our catch was thrown away because they just were not fit to eat having been polluted
The river flowed thru the southern end of the Great Smoky Mountains. The Smokey got its name because it was a natural filtering system for the industrial part of America, Being the highest point on the East side of the US. Much of the industrial machines of the north dumped their air pollution thru large smoke stacks which settled on our mountains, lifted into the atmosphere and helped destroy our ozone layer. The Tuckasegee River caught all the waste from the Mead Paper Corporation, just north of our farm.
There was a disgusting smell both from the river and the air. At my age that didn’t mean much to me because I thought it was a normal smell and sight at my age.
My Grandfather (Papa, I called him) often remarked with disgust as to the condition we were turning the earth into. Today I am the age he was then and only now do I realize how wise this man with only a third grade education really was.
The environmental and energy issues have been passed down the generations until now and present a major problem to today’s generation of American problem solvers, solve it they will. And life in America goes on.
While watching the Olympics from China and seeing all that smog reminds me of America during my youth. God have mercy on us what we have done to your planet.
The Tuckasegee River now flows clear down a pristine valley under the beautiful Carolina blue skies. I suppose it looks much like it did when the Indians loved the earth and lived along its banks.
Remains from the era of time can be seen 30 miles to the north of the Tuckasegee at Clingmans Dome in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, dead and dying trees remind me of our industrial age.

The Crowning of a Queen

Over my years, I have voted for many presidents, and each have proven to be only concerned about politics and their own power and wealth. No president has ever shown a real interest in me or the middle class working person.

Is it now possible that the Obamas, who seem to be just like me and millions like me, will be able to restore the part of America that makes our dreams come true once again.

Is this a hoax, a lie or just more politicals bullschite. Oh how I want to beleive this is my American dream coming true. How I want to beleive we are back on the road to faith, security, education, that nation that every person in the world wants to live in. A nation with open borders that welcomes all with the promise of freedom and justice for all.

As dreadful as it sounds, freedom is not free the price is blood, from many young soldiers. Many say that Obama is not strong in foreign affairs, then to hell with foreign affairs, make Americans strong again and the Americans will handle the affairs of others that are aggressive toward us.

Obama, do you really have what it takes to convience me to call you "My President." Can you show me that you are "My President". I am the kind of American that will die protecting My President.

Obama, King or Con

I have always been interested in politics and I want to beleive Obama,

But is he just like all the rest of the liars that we send to Washington.

I will vote, but I still have not made up my mind, I want a change in DC but the thought of going from bad to worse is so confusing, that last congress we voted sure gave us some change didn't they.

Water to Gas Ha !

I am an expert mechanic with many years experience with internal combustion engines.
So when I am bombarded with internet adds and spam mail claiming that a car will run on water, well I just had to investigate that issue.
As usual Google proved to supply the necessary information and theory behind for my experiment.
With gas prices headed toward near record highs, many people are understandably looking for ways to cut costs at the pump -- and some sites can help you hunt down the lowest gas price in your neighborhood. But the Web (not to mention your inbox) is also brimming with dubious offers for free gas and schemes to save at the pump.
These car kits are hogwash. "All of these devices look like they could probably work for you, but let me tell you they don't even start to function.
"Use water as fuel, cut your costs by as much as 60 percent and makes the environment better and your car run better at the same time. These are schemes to take your money.
I know that we need a solution to cheap oil, and I am for nuclear energy to fuel our transportation cost. Plastic and other oil byproducts can be made from renewable sources. Home and industry energy should be created from solar, wind and water.
Gas is the cheapest form of energy
1940 gas was 12 cents per gal. Pay scale was 25 cents per hour 1 gal gas = ½ hour work
1950 18 cents pay 50 cents less than ½ hr work
1960 35 cents 1.50 ¼ hr work
1970 75 cents 3.00 ¼ hr
1980 85 6.00
1990 1.00 12.00
2008 4.00 25.00
We cannot continue to be dependent on foreign oil.

A visit to the doctor’s office starts with a weigh-in.

The Strangers

THE STRANGER
A few years after I was born, my Dad met a stranger who was new to our small Alabama town.
From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family.
The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then on As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my family. In my young mind, he had a special niche. My parents were complementary instructors: Mom taught me good from evil, and Dad taught me to obey. But the stranger...he was our storyteller.
He would keep us spellbound for hours on end with Adventures, mysteries and comedies. If I wanted to know anything about politics, history or science, he always knew the answers about the past, understood the present and even seemed able to predict the future!
He took my family to the first major league ball game. He made me laugh, and he made me cry. The stranger never stopped Talking, but Dad didn't seem to mind.
Sometimes, Mom would get up quietly while the rest of us were shushing each other to listen to what he had to say, and she would go to the kitchen for peace and quiet. (I wonder now if she ever prayed for the stranger to leave.)
Dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions, but the stranger never felt obligated to honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our home... Not from us, our friends or any visitors. Our longtime visitor, however, got away with four-letter words that burned my ears and made my dad squirm and my mother blush.
My Dad didn't permit the liberal use of alcohol. But the stranger encouraged us to try it on a regular Basis. He made cigarettes look cool, cigars manly and pipes distinguished.
He talked freely (much too freely!) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing. I now know that my early concepts about relationships were influenced strongly by the stranger. Time after time, he opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked... And NEVER asked to leave.
More than fifty years have passed since the stranger moved in with our family. He has blended right in and is not nearly as fascinating as he was at first. Still, if you could walk into my parents' den today, you would still find him sitting over in his corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.
His name?.... . . .We just call him 'TV.' (Note: This should be required reading for every household.)
He has a wife now....We call her 'Computer.'
Source unknown: But I too have him and her in my home.

Lou Dobbs: Issues, TV, Radio, and Books - CNN.com:

"The Progressive Democrats of America is pushing a platform that would end the war in Iraq and roll all the war funding into a plan to give healthcare to every person in the United States—including the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens here."

And another thing about Obama

As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . .'we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . . As with so many other statements I've heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I'd see the day that I'd hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation--and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be.
Well I read mine. As I learn about this man the less I like.
